Richland County administrator reports payroll transition complete; Tyler time-and-attendance rollout scheduled

Richland County’s acting administrator reported Friday that the county has completed an initial payroll transition and is continuing the staged rollout of its Tyler enterprise system.
The County Administrator said Melissa Wickard began work as the county’s payroll and benefits administrator on April 21 and that “the first two payrolls … went off pretty much without a hitch,” though staff are resolving “some little glitches.” The administrator said staff have been working closely with the Tyler representative and that Tyler provided videos to help transfer payroll data from Kronos to the county (Pine Valley) payroll system.
The administrator said staff have been granted access to the Tyler employee self-service (ESS) portal but that only a small group of employees has logged in so far. “The kickoff meeting for [time and attendance] will be May 19,” the administrator said, adding, “we should be able to fully utilize time and attendance probably in October this year.”
County staff named in the update who helped complete the recent payrolls were Melissa Wickard; Michelle Brown; Justin Siemens; Taryn Weber; Kayla Katarak (Pine Valley); and Terence (Highway). The administrator thanked staff for handling manual data entry while spreadsheets and system merges are finalized.
The administrator also said department-head outreach is ongoing; she had met with 12 of 20 department heads at the time of the meeting and intends to meet the remainder. Committee members asked only clarifying questions; no formal action was taken on the report.
