Main Street committee to lead community planning for Mount Pleasant's 250th anniversary; resolution expected

CDRA members reported that the Lane Street committee—which serves as a Main Street advisory body, the city's preservation commission by resolution, and the CDRA executive committee—has shifted its regular meeting date and is assembling volunteers to help plan Mount Pleasant's 250th anniversary, set for July 4, 2026.
The committee has 18 members and will act as a coordinating body to gather public input, generate ideas and present a plan to the city council and the RDA. The board was told the National Main Street Center and the National Alliance of Heritage Areas have asked the committee to prepare a plan, and that the group is affiliated with the Utah Department of Culture and Community Engagement. A resolution to formalize the city's participation in the anniversary events was expected to be prepared and shared with the council and RDA.
Board members discussed outreach and public meetings and said the event would be citywide. No formal vote on the resolution was taken at the May 13 CDRA meeting; members said the resolution would be circulated to the council and RDA in coming weeks.
