Council approves Hansen Group contract for airport overlay and general plan review

The Bluff Town Council voted May 6 to accept a Hansen Group proposal to draft an airport overlay ordinance and perform a limited review of the town’s general plan.
Erin and planning-and-zoning representatives said the overlay is required in connection with airport operations and must be incorporated into the general plan to comply with state requirements. Hansen quoted an hourly rate of $160 and estimated roughly $2,000 to complete the overlay work; the general-plan audit was quoted at approximately $640 (about four hours of work). Hansen will coordinate language with planning and zoning and can perform additional work on an hourly basis if the planning commission requests it.
A council member noted the town’s attorney had not yet completed the overlay and that using Hansen Group could save legal hours billed at higher rates. The council approved the Hansen Group proposal by motion; members expressed a desire to notify the town attorney to avoid duplicate work.
Hansen’s engagement moves the draft overlay and plan language to planning and zoning for review and public process steps.
