Staff provided an update on Resica, described in the meeting as the program’s first land transaction. The board heard that staff are working through county contracting, payment requests and other administrative steps for the acquisition; staff characterized the Resica process as a test case for documents and procedures that will be used for future transactions.
Staff said they are planning a press event for June 11 and are coordinating signage and media. Members discussed having a sign in place for the event (staff said a sign could be used as a prop if installation is not complete) and suggested staging a ceremonial shovel/groundbreaking visual for photos. Staff also noted that some state and legislative representatives might be in Harrisburg for budget work on the planned event date and that staff will check availability.
Natural Lands and other partners were cited as helping with communications and messaging for the event; staff said Natural Lands is assisting with messaging and media outreach. No formal board action was taken; staff said they will continue to work with county procurement, contracts and partners to complete the transaction and finalize event logistics.
