The Central School District 13J board approved the consent agenda Oct. 7 by a unanimous 4‑0 vote. The motion was moved by Don and seconded by Susan.
During the superintendent’s report, district staff presented three policies on first reading. The policies were informational only and will return for subsequent readings if no substantive edits are requested: - JOIGBAB (educational records and records of students with disabilities) — updates to clarify access and remove language no longer aligned with state law. - GDCBA (alcohol/controlled substances use) — a new policy developed with union leadership to clarify prohibited conduct and procedures. - ING (animals in district facilities) — revisions from the Oregon School Boards Association update clarifying service animal rules and facility protocols.
No board action was taken on the policies at the first reading.
Discussion/Direction: Board members asked clarifying questions about the new alcohol/controlled substances policy’s development with unions; Kubista said leadership worked through items over the summer. Staff will return proposed policy language for second reading if no substantive changes are needed.
Ending: The board moved on to other business after approving the consent agenda and reviewing first readings.
