Cherokee Nation Health Services reports award, physician recognition and upcoming working-group report on dialysis and telehealth

Brian Hale, filling in for Dr. Jones, told the Cherokee Nation Health Committee that Cherokee Nation Health Services recently received the Oklahoma Quality Foundation’s Achievement of Excellence award and celebrated providers at a physician recognition gala at the Hard Rock.
Hale said the award recognizes ongoing work to improve care and services across Cherokee Nation Health Services. He also said he could provide requested materials to the committee, including a list of members of a February-established working group that is studying dialysis access, telehealth and Medicare premium assistance.
Committee members asked about the working group’s membership and timing. Johnny Kidwell requested the group list and reminded officials that the working-group report is expected July 1. Hale said he did not have the list in the meeting packet but would deliver it to the committee.
During questions, committee member Sasha Black Fox Qualls asked whether Cherokee Nation Health Services is providing direct treatment for alpha-gal syndrome; Hale said the system refers patients to specialists who can run tests and establish treatment plans.
No formal committee action was taken on the report; Hale answered questions and agreed to follow up with the requested list and other materials.
