Ripley Woodard of Meta Planning and Design presented three related requests for the city Planning Commission: delete an unnamed east–west major thoroughfare between Fort Bend Parkway and FM 521; delete the southern portion of Blue Ridge Road south of McCard Road; and delete a segment of Hiram Clark Road south of McCard Road. Woodard said the three segments are largely infeasible to construct because they cross the Blue Ridge Landfill, active oil and drilling sites, and several radio and television broadcast towers.
Woodard displayed exhibits showing the footprint of the Blue Ridge Landfill, active drilling sites and broadcast towers and said these encumbrances make the alignments infeasible. He also said the same package of changes was presented to Fort Bend County and that a public hearing is scheduled there later in the month.
Why it matters: Deleting mapped corridors would change right-of-way expectations for landowners and reduce future alignment obligations where physical and infrastructure constraints make construction impractical.
What's next: The applications will continue through the public outreach schedule and the July 24 commission public hearing; Fort Bend County is also holding parallel consideration.
Ending: The request asks planners to accept deletion of multiple mapped corridors where existing industrial and infrastructure uses block practicable roadway construction.
