During the meeting's public comment period, Mark Velasquez asked the commission to check whether a municipal service review (MSR) for Sacramento County cemetery districts — which he said is about 17 years overdue — is on track to begin by the end of the year. He said a staff-directed public information-gathering session was promised last November but did not occur and asked the chair or a designee to follow up with the executive director.
Commissioner Moore and another commissioner expressed support for bringing the topic back to the agenda and suggested scheduling a workshop or public session in the next few months. Chair Chris Little said staff would try to schedule something in the fall if possible.
No formal action was taken; the citizen's request remains a public-direction item and commissioners asked staff to follow up on the MSR status and consider scheduling a broader discussion of cemetery district structure, funding and gaps.
