Council approves YMCA license to use and maintain baseball and softball complexes

Plainview City Council on May 13 approved a license agreement permitting the YMCA to use the concession stand and participate in agreed maintenance at the city's baseball and softball complexes.
Staff said the principal change from the previous agreement is an increase in the annual payment from $1,500 to $2,500. The license includes a one-year renewal option if both parties agree. Staff recommended approval and noted that the YMCA will be responsible for specified maintenance items while the city remains responsible for others.
Councilmember Rascon moved to accept the agreement; the motion was seconded and the mayor announced the vote was unanimous. During discussion a councilmember asked about progress on the Broadway baseball fields; staff said work continues and that McNeil Sports still anticipates a June 1 finish date pending weather, with remaining items including backstops, concrete for stands, shade covers and dugout installation.
The agreement takes effect upon execution; staff will proceed with finalizing contract documents.
