Pottsgrove board member Dr. Charles “Chuck” Nippert remembered at meeting after his death

The Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors opened its meeting with an announcement that board member Dr. Charles “Chuck” Nippert died Sunday evening, May 11. The board read funeral arrangements provided by his wife, Carolyn: a viewing Friday, May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dangler Sours Funeral Home and Crematory in Birdsboro, Pa.; a funeral Saturday, May 17 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church; and a graveside burial in Allentown afterward.

Board members observed a moment of silence after the pledge of allegiance. Several board speakers described Nippert’s service and character. One board member said, “Chuck was a wonderful man, a good friend, a good leader, loved his family. Family was first. Community was first.” Another called him “the absent-minded professor” whose wit and stories engaged both the public and the board. Colleagues noted Nippert’s committee service, including as chair of the operations and finance committee and as the district’s representative on the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit legislative committee.

Nippert joined the board on Dec. 8, 2017, was reelected in November 2021 and served about eight years. He also served on the athletics, co-curricular and community relations committee and on the joint operating committee of the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center. The board’s opening remarks asked those in attendance to consider attending the family’s services and to keep his family in their thoughts.

The meeting then proceeded to its scheduled agenda items.
