STEP, Inc. honored as Community Action Month; agency launches Find My Ride pilot and seeks child-care program expansion

At its May 8 meeting the Clinton County commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing May 2025 as Community Action Month and recognized STEP, Inc., the community action agency serving Lycoming and Clinton counties.
Rochelle Abbott, chief executive officer of STEP, Inc., told commissioners the agency recently launched a Find My Ride online scheduling pilot for Clinton County. Abbott said residents may use FindMyRidePA.org or the STEP website to register and schedule trips within the county; the current pilot covers trips inside Clinton County and later will expand to allow scheduling for trips outside the county. The system integrates with STEP’s existing scheduling software.
Abbott also said STEP has applied to expand the substitute-aid pool program to Clinton County, which would provide trained substitute classroom aides for child-care programs. She said STEP is currently accepting applications and interviews for substitute aides and that the positions are flexible (up to 20 hours per week) with training provided; interested applicants may apply via stepcorp.org under the careers section.
STEP highlighted its long-running housing-rehab program (Homes in Need) and said the program was showcased at the State Community Development and Housing Conference. Abbott asked commissioners if they would provide support letters to members of the county’s federal delegation; she said STEP has prepared letters for Senator John Fetterman, Senator Dave McCormick and Representative G.T. Thompson and would deliver digital copies for the board’s consideration.
The board adopted the proclamation by voice vote and invited STEP staff forward for a photo. County staff present included Nicole Miller (administrative coordinator), Erin Hafer (chief operations officer) and Jamie Williams (administrative coordinator, STEP).
