The Board of Commissioners approved a $2,500 sponsorship request to fund supplies for a county float in the annual Boatnik parade.
Parks and Fair staff described plans to borrow a truck and trailer from Public Works and to decorate the float to promote the county fair, parks and recreation opportunities and related events. Staff characterized the request as an economic-development marketing expense tied to enterprise-funded recreation and fair promotion.
Commissioners supported the proposal, noting the parade draws large crowds and provides a visible platform to advertise county programs. One commissioner noted previous, positive experiences when youth-run lemonade-stand events or county floats engaged the public.
A motion to allocate $2,500 for supplies passed on unanimous roll call. Staff said they will proceed with preparations and that the Parks and Fair enterprise fund will cover the expense.
