Commissioners approve $75,000 from county to San Antonio Green as first step in step-down grant plan

Bexar County Commissioners Court on May 13 authorized the county judge to execute a one-year funding agreement with San Antonio Green for $75,000 to support energy efficiency programs from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025.
Commissioner Moody noted the funding continues a multi-year partnership and that the county’s contribution is part of a planned step-down to reduce the county’s share to $50,000 over subsequent years. Dan Curry (staff) explained that the county historically contributed $85,000 annually; this fiscal year’s agreement reduces the county share to $75,000 while the city of San Antonio and CPS Energy remain funding partners.
The motion to approve the funding agreement was made by Commissioner Rodriguez and seconded by Commissioner Clay Flores; the motion carried without opposition.
Commissioners said they support the county’s continued participation while trimming the county’s contribution over time. The court did not amend program requirements or allocate additional funds beyond the $75,000 approved for the one-year period.
