Council enacts three rezoning ordinances and approves minutes, travel expense

At its May 12 meeting Southfield City Council enacted three conditional rezonings for properties on Southfield Road, Northwestern Highway and Telegraph Road and approved minutes from March 14, 2024, and a travel expense for a council member.
Southfield City Council on May 12 enacted three ordinances to conditionally rezone parcels across the city and approved routine housekeeping items including minutes and a travel expense report.
The council enacted Ordinance No. 1810 (PZR25-0001) to conditionally rezone the western 97 feet of a vacant parcel on the east side of Southfield Road between Stratford Drive and Silver Maple Street from OS (Office Service) to B-3 (General Business). Council records show the motion was moved by Councilwoman Ho and supported by Councilwoman Banks; the ordinance was adopted by voice vote.
The council also enacted Ordinance No. 1811 (PZR25-0002) to rezone 27600 Northwestern Highway from RMU (Multiple Family High Rise) to RS (Regional Shopping), moved by Councilwoman Hoag and supported by Councilwoman Banks, and Ordinance No. 1812 (PCR25-0001) to rezone 21375 Telegraph Road from ODD to Industrial I, moved by Councilwoman Hochs and supported by Councilwoman Haines. Both ordinances passed by voice vote.
Separately, the council approved the special meeting minutes of March 14, 2024, on a motion by Councilman Hicks supported by Councilwoman Hogue. The council also approved a travel expense report for Councilwoman Haines to attend the Michigan Municipal League convention in Mackinac Island (Sept. 11–13, 2024); that motion was moved by Councilwoman Hogue and supported by Councilwoman Banks.
All of the listed motions were approved by voice vote; the meeting record reports each as “motion carries.” The council pulled one consent item and the Committee of the Whole minutes for additional review; those items are expected to return for action at a future meeting.
