The Village of Hartland's Board of Review meeting was postponed to June 12 after trustees were told the current property assessment process is not finished.
President Jeff Fannerstil opened the board-of-review portion of the meeting and identified the review members as Tim Hallquist, Anne Walshlager and Sandy Palicello, along with himself. Staff reported that the assessor's work and notifications are ongoing and that property owners who disagree with their assessments should first use the open-book process and contact the assessor to discuss their values.
Because the assessment work was incomplete, the Board of Review took a motion to postpone the review until June 12. The motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote. The president advised residents to contact the village or the assessor directly to schedule open-book appointments in the meantime.
Why this matters: postponing the review preserves residents' procedural rights to a completed assessment and ensures the Board of Review can consider finalized valuation information before hearing appeals.
Speakers named in the record include President Jeff Fannerstil, Board of Review member Tim Hallquist and staff member Sandy Palicello.
