The Huron City Commission approved a slate of routine consent items and several infrastructure payments during the meeting. Commissioners voted to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes, departmental personnel items, committee appointments and permit approvals; the commission recorded approvals by roll call.
Key formal actions the commission approved:
- Awarded bid 20205-9Q for asphalt emulsion to the lowest bidder, Jeb Jebro Incorporated, for $53,147.64. Assistant Engineer Dennis Bennett described the purchase as standard road oil used for chip sealing.
- Approved payment request No. 10 to BX Civil and Construction Inc. for Dakota Avenue improvements (Bid 2401-01) in the amount of $563,060.30; staff described this vote as a routine progress payment.
- Approved payment request No. 11 to HK Solutions for sewer mainlining (Bid 2024-08) in the amount of $8,333,583.40; staff described this as a progress payment on a multi-phase project that resumed this year.
- Approved the consent agenda items, which the city clerk summarized as: approval of minutes from 05/05/2025; fuel quotes for city departments; personnel items including volunteer firefighter Rusty Topol completing probationary requirements effective 05/05/2025; acceptance of termination of the city attorney contract with David Wheeler effective 05/31/2025; seasonal hiring for parks and recreation and Splash Central; authorization for police chief Gary Claire to apply for a Shop with a Cop grant and to sign grant documents with finance director Pauline Carey; parade permits for May 28 and June 13; several committee reappointments and an appointment to the historic preservation board; and payment of bills.
Each motion was put to roll call and approved. Commissioners called votes in sequence and recorded “Aye” responses for the motions. The meeting then moved into a work session.
No amendments to the motions were recorded on the floor, and no item was removed from the consent agenda for separate discussion.
