The Harper Creek Board on May 12 approved bids to renovate and outfit the high-school weight room, including new flooring and commercial strength equipment.
What the board approved
The board approved the low bidder for flooring, Soremax, at $71,378.16 and authorized the purchase of weight-room equipment from Direct Fitness Solutions for $77,765.45. The motion passed by roll call.
Fundraising and scope
Administrators said the district had raised approximately $154,000 as of the prior Friday toward the project and intends to buy the flooring and the initial equipment now, with additional pieces purchased as more donations arrive. Ridgeway described plans to open the full former wrestling/weight-room space by removing an interior wall and installing turf and rubberized flooring with branded logos at equipment drop zones. He said the district will time removal of current equipment and installation of new equipment to minimize repeated moves.
Capacity and use
Officials said the layout supports multiple stations and could theoretically accommodate large team workouts; administrators noted practical safety limits and staffing will determine actual occupancy for supervised sessions.
Ending
The board approved both contracts so staff can schedule floor installation and equipment lead times estimated at several weeks.
