Public Safety Committee honors crisis intervention team and court bailiffs for life‑saving actions

The Public Safety Committee opened with public recognition for two separate life‑saving incidents.

Chair (presiding) recognized members of the Crisis Intervention Team for an April incident in which coordinators intervened to stop a person from jumping off an overpass. The chair named Phlynise Burnham, Jason Terry, Crystal Thomas and Marco Rodriguez and said the team “physically pulled [the individual] to safe, calmed, and connected with emergency services, including our right care team.” The chair framed the recognition in the context of Mental Health Awareness Month and thanked the team for “incredible service and life saving work.”

Separately, the committee recognized court bailiffs for an early‑afternoon March incident at Dallas Municipal Courtroom No. 8. According to the committee’s description, a defendant acting erratically attempted to move through a secured door, then ran and dove head‑first into a courtroom window. Bailiffs Jimmy Hollis, Rochelle Harris and a third bailiff — and an officer identified as Baleb Sabedra — were credited with grabbing the defendant and preventing a fatality; Rochelle Harris was reported injured during the incident.

These recognitions were ceremonial; no formal committee action beyond the acknowledgments was reported.
