Commission amends grant list to add Florida Dance Education Organization; corrects award amounts

Miami-Dade County commissioners approved an administrative amendment to item 3C to add a missing project description and correct two scrivener's errors in the mayor’s memorandum and the resolution.

The amendment added Florida Dance Education Organization Inc. to the list of recommended grant recipients with an award of $5,000 and a project address listed as 8901 Southwest 79th Court, Miami (address format as read into the record). The amendment also added project details for the Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler, describing one live performance on Oct. 5, 2024, at the New World School of the Arts Dance Theater and an online showcase available Oct. 1–30, 2024.

Commission staff reading the amendment said the organization was established in 02/2002 and that project activities will occur at New World School of the Arts. The amendment was adopted without objection.

Earlier in the meeting the clerk read two scrivener's corrections in the mayor’s memorandum and resolution: an amount on pages MDC1 and MDC2 and page MDC015 was corrected from $369,050 to $375,050, and the amount for the South Beach Seafood Festival, Inc. on page MDC012 was corrected from $14,000 to $20,000.

The amendment was procedural and limited to the resolution’s attachments and funding-line corrections; commissioners moved and adopted the adjustment so the full agenda could proceed.
