An unnamed meeting speaker said they joined Mike Lees campaign early, spent about a year on the campaign, then served on his staff for three years in Washington, D.C., and about nine years in Utah, including seven years as his state director.
The speaker described how they first met Mike Lee and quickly aligned with his positions, saying, "Was introduced to Mike right when he was announcing his campaign, very quickly identified that Mike Lee is is saying the things that I believe. His his concern with, the growth of government, his concern with a move away from constitutional principles at the time, and and he's held to this, but his concern with the the overly easy use of of military force and putting at risk the lives of Americans to exert yourself on the world stage and his concern for that. Like, that just matched with where I was, so I very quickly got on board with him and actually joined his campaign, early on. So, spent about a year, well, a little under a year working on his campaign. Once he was elected, he offered me a position on his staff," the speaker said.
The speaker summarized the subsequent employment: "So I joined his staff immediately thereafter, spent 3 years in DC working on legislation, came back to Utah with my family, and and then spent, an additional, what, 9 years or so in the Utah office. The last 7 of which I was his state director. So managed our state operations, all of the staff, and really just tried to fight for Utah and conservative principles." The remarks outlined duties as state director as managing state operations and staff.
