Council hears resident complaints, city manager reports Chiquita Lock work ahead of schedule

The city manager said crews had removed most of the dirt and work had concentrated on two concrete seawalls; he reported the contractor told staff that if conditions continued, they expected to finish in about two weeks. Staff also noted earlier constraints on truck availability and haul cycles that had slowed movement at times but said those logistics issues had been addressed and that the project remained ahead of schedule relative to contract deadlines.
Council members asked staff to provide a written update for residents who had raised concerns; staff agreed to prepare an email summary for the council and to post project status information.
