The Waynoka Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve a broad consent agenda and a sequence of contracts, service agreements, policy updates and personnel hires at its regular May meeting. Board members approved temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2025–26, renewed several vendor and membership agreements, and voted to hire multiple staff for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 school years.
The approvals were handled largely on the consent calendar and passed by voice vote. The board approved temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2025–26 and a series of agreements, including engagement and service letters and membership renewals with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA); participation in the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) district-level services program; an agreement with Horizon Digitally Enhanced Campus; and service and policy agreements with OSSBA for the 2025–26 school year.
The board approved contracts for student and staff services including Alcohol and Drug Testing Inc. for bus-driver testing and an athletics/extracurricular testing program; a pediatric physical therapy services contract with Northwest Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab for 2025–26; and additional agreements listed on the meeting agenda.
On travel and extracurricular approvals, the board qualified students and sponsors to attend the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, scheduled for July 2025, and approved multiple fundraiser requests for the 2024–25 school year for junior high and high school teams and organizations.
The board declared items on Attachment A as surplus and amended and adopted a board policy related to child identification, location, screening and evaluation (agenda item 20a). A proposed executive session to discuss several personnel matters was listed on the agenda with a statutory reference to 25 O.S. 307 E1.
Personnel actions approved included the employment of Christy Johnson as certified speech pathologist (June–July 2025 and the 2025–26 school year); summer maintenance staff listed on Attachment B for 2024–25 and 2025–26; a driver’s education teacher for summer instruction (Westfall); Ronald Wilson as daycare director for 2025–26; support staff hires (Jill States and Bailey Stevens); Trey Allen as junior high/high school principal for 2025–26; Jared Barnett as a certified teacher under a temporary contract for 2025–26; and extra-duty contracts for summer school teachers listed on Attachment C.
All motions on the consent calendar and the listed personnel and vendor actions were approved by the board during the meeting. Specific motion makers and seconders were recorded on the transcript for individual items (examples include motions moved by Garrett and by John, with seconds by Travis and others).
