Resident urges Redondo Beach to update OpenGov data; commission directs staff to place item on agenda

Mehta said there was no intent to hide information and that the budget book contains official numbers. Commissioners pressed whether the requested data were available in another format on the website; staff said the exact OpenGov format was not currently duplicated elsewhere and that some data are available in standard budget documents.
Commissioners discussed placing a follow-up item on a future agenda to clarify which data the public can obtain online and how to present it in a user-friendly format. The commission directed staff to add the topic for a future meeting so staff could return with a plan to update or clarify online financial data and where to find budget and revenue figures.
No vote was required on the public comment itself; commissioners recorded direction to staff to schedule the follow-up under “directions to staff” at a future meeting.
