Leesburg EDC readies June 5 downtown business networking breakfast; commissioners to make personal invitations

Russell, an Economic Development staff member, told commissioners that marketing has been distributed and that three presentation slots for the council/board portion are filled. Staff said the event will feature local downtown businesses and a moderated conversation with panelists; commissioners recommended keeping the program partly spontaneous to encourage audience questions and live exchanges.
Several commissioners offered to make in-person, printed-invitation rounds to downtown businesses. Commissioner Lindsay said she would “personally invite businesses” and suggested printed materials be made available for walk-up outreach. Commissioners and staff agreed a personal, face-to-face invitation would likely reach a different audience than the digital marketing currently in use.
Commissioners said the June 5 event is an opportunity to collect feedback on downtown matters, including the Save the Music issue that recently drew large public attendance at a town council meeting. Staff said the council has delayed a decision on Save the Music pending additional input, and commissioners may hear related comments from downtown businesses on June 5.
Staff confirmed the event will include light breakfast refreshments, and the venue and catering details were described as finalized. The commission encouraged attendance at ribbon cuttings and other business-hosted events to maintain relationships with local owners and to raise awareness of Economic Development initiatives.
