The Janesville Historic Commission voted to participate in the Tallman Arts Festival on Aug. 2–3, 2025, and will register for a booth and coordinate staffing and materials.
Commission members discussed the commission’s outreach role at the festival, past placement problems and logistics for staffing a two-day booth. Members said the event is “an outreach opportunity, an educational opportunity to connect with members of the public and teach them about what the historic commission does.” The commission relies on the city manager’s office for social media promotion and on volunteers for staffing the tent, storyboards and sales of walking-guide booklets.
Members noted problems with placement in a recent festival year and resolved to contact festival organizers in advance to request better positioning. The commission also confirmed it can supply a tent, tables and easels; members volunteered to coordinate pickup, setup and teardown. The motion to participate passed by voice vote; the transcript records no roll-call tally.
Brian Schweigle, city staff liaison, said the manager’s office will handle communications and that staff will pursue registration and logistics with the festival organizers.
