Planning Commission member Reese to retire July 1 after decades of volunteer service

Planning Commission member Reese announced his retirement from the commission and other volunteer roles, saying his resignation will take effect July 1.

"After 30 fulfilling years of volunteer service, I write this letter today with a full heart to formally announce my retirement from the planning commission and volunteering, within the county," Reese said during the meeting. In a prepared statement read to the commission, he recounted volunteer roles including firefighting, coaching youth sports, teaching and other civic activities, and said he will continue informal support for the community after stepping down from official posts.

Chair and staff thanked Reese for his service. Director Mordock and other commissioners offered remarks of appreciation; the chair said she would see him at the next meeting in person. Reese said his resignation would be effective July 1 and ended his remarks by thanking the commission and staff.
