Argyle planning commissioners urge council workshop on parks, fee review

ARGYLE, Texas — Commissioners on the Argyle Planning and Zoning Commission used a May 7 workshop to press for clearer town policy on parkland dedication, trail planning and the $1,000-per-unit park-fee in the town's development standards.
Brenda, the town attorney, reviewed the ordinance language and told the commission that the current Town Development Standards set a dedication requirement of one acre per 40 dwelling units or, alternatively, a fee in lieu of dedication of $1,000 per unit. "The dedication requirement is 1 acre per 40 units, and the fee in lieu is $1,000 per unit," she said, noting the code gives the council discretion to accept fee-in-lieu payments and that funds must be segregated and used for neighborhood parks.
