Rob Raab, the Town Council liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission, summarized recent Council action on an appeal concerning the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene.
Raab said the applicant sought an 8‑month continuance at the Council hearing; the continuance request was denied on a 3‑to‑4 vote. On the merits, the council overruled the commission’s denial and “conditionally grant[ed] a building height increase of 36 feet maximum, including conditions 1, 2, and 4,” Raab reported. He said a motion to reduce the approved height to 29 feet was withdrawn and the main motion carried “7 to 0.”
Raab also said a subsequent motion to reconsider the council’s decision failed by a 4‑to‑2 vote.
What was reported is a summary of Town Council action provided to the commission by its council liaison; no Planning and Zoning Commission vote on the matter occurred at the May 6 meeting.
