Support for Mary Pickford free movies for kids (Summer 2025) Motion: Support the annual Mary Pickford free movies for kids event for summer 2025 (eight-week series). Mover: Chair Hyland. Second: Commissioner Martinez. Vote: All ayes; motion carries. Notes: Staff reported an eight-week series running June 13–Aug. 1 with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and films starting at 9:30 a.m. The program will supply 100 free popcorns and waters weekly (paid through donations and the communications budget), 500 printed materials and 800 tickets; Patsy’s Dinner is a named donor for popcorn and water. Commissioners agreed to provide volunteer support for gate and event duties.
Yoga in the Park — 2026 season (budget and weekend-class discussion) Motion: Table the item to a date uncertain (postpone further action and revisit later). Mover: Commissioner Jimenez. Second: Commissioner Herrera. Roll-call vote: Yes — Commissioner Jimenez (aye), Commissioner Herrera (aye), Chair Hyland (aye); No — Commissioner Martinez (nay), Vice Chair Bai Shu (nay). Outcome: Motion to table carries 3–2. The item will be revisited in future commission business (commissioners discussed placing it on the September agenda for further discussion and possible changes, including adding weekend classes).
Procedural note: Several other agenda items at the meeting were informational and required no vote, including the Esperanza Park construction update and public announcements (spay/neuter clinics and a proposed military banner program).
