The Salinas City Council on May 6 received an updated city strategic plan and voted to accept the report with a change adding “overall production of housing” to the housing goal. City Manager Renee Mendez presented a revised plan that condensed council priorities into six focus areas: economic development, housing, infrastructure, city services, public safety, and youth and seniors, and said staff would use the plan to inform the FY 2025–26 budget and the city work plan. "What the strategic plan does is set forth a path for the council and the city as they develop next year's budget and the work plan," Mendez told the council.
