The medical director provides clinical oversight, approves standing orders and medication protocols, and helps ensure field care aligns with medical control and state standards.
Staff said an RFP (request for proposals) was issued for medical‑director services and Dr. Grohl was the only respondent. The contract permits a subcontracting physician if Dr. Grohl needs coverage; staff said his agreement includes that option. The fiscal terms show city cost allocations based on each agency’s AEMT staffing levels; the agreement pro‑rata cost breakdown was provided in the meeting packet.
Council approved the renewal on a roll‑call vote. No public comment was offered on the item at the May 6 meeting.
