The Maury County Audit Committee voted to receive the county audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024 during its meeting, a motion moved by Commissioner Gabe Howard and seconded by Commissioner Kenny Morrow.
The motion to receive the audit passed by voice vote. County staff member Doug told the committee that he would not go through each finding at length during the meeting and, with the committee chair’s guidance, would review the detailed findings at the committee’s next meeting.
Committee members recapped the number of findings in the audit. One speaker summarized the report as containing nine findings plus two findings that involve elected officials, for a total of 11 documented findings. The committee did not resolve the findings at the meeting; staff said they would review the details at the audit meeting scheduled for the following night.
Committee members also noted an inconsistency in the minutes and audit cover date (the printed material showed June 30, 2023 in one copy and June 30, 2024 in another); members asked that the date be corrected to reflect fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.
The meeting adjourned after routine housekeeping; the committee’s next audit meeting was scheduled for the next evening at 4:00 p.m.
