The Janesville Plan Commission removed an agenda item that would have declared city-owned property at 214 East Wall Street surplus and considered its disposition, announcing May 5 that the item would not be discussed at the meeting.
The commission’s chair told attendees the surplus-property item was being pulled and that any written comments submitted to the planning commission would be forwarded to the City Council along with the meeting minutes. "The item number 1 under new business this evening ... has been pulled from our agenda," the chair said. "We are not going to take public comment."
Commissioners and staff did not discuss the property on the record at the meeting. At the end of the meeting staff and a commissioner noted the item could return to a future agenda; the chair said it would be "properly noted when and if this were ever to be brought back." The director’s report also recorded that newly confirmed appointments to the commission were acknowledged and that a nomination and election for commission chair and vice chair will occur at the May 19 meeting.
Because the item was removed, no formal action or vote was taken by the plan commission on the 214 East Wall Street property during the May 5 meeting. Written comments that had been submitted to the planning commission will be forwarded to the City Council as part of the meeting record.
