The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners accepted a sealed bid from Shelco Construction on May 5 for the Lincoln County Department of Roads Asphalt Projects 2025‑02.
Jason Schultz, Lincoln County Highway Superintendent, told the board Shelco’s bid covers 6,160 tons of road asphalt at $109 per ton for a total asphalt bid of $671,440. Shelco’s proposed start date is July 21, 2025 with a projected completion date of August 22, 2025. The work covers overlays in three subdivisions identified by county staff: Fairway Estates, Calvary Hills and Prairie View Acres West.
Bids from two vendors were opened; both vendors submitted identical price totals and bond documentation. County staff recommended Shelco based on the contractor’s earlier proposed completion timing and confidence in on‑time completion during the asphalt season. A motion to accept Shelco’s bid passed by roll call vote.
Highway staff noted concern about late‑season asphalt work and recommended a July start to reduce weather‑related risk.
