Lakewood City Council on May 5 adopted a resolution honoring Melt Bar & Grill and founder Matt Fish for 18 years of operation and contributions to the city—s restaurant scene.
Councilmembers praised Melt as an early downtown venture that helped revitalize the commercial district and noted the restaurant—s philanthropic support for local organizations. "Few businesses have had such a large impact and few have been so iconically representative of Lakewood," Councilman Bullock said while introducing the resolution.
The resolution notes milestones including Melt—s opening in February 2006, recognition in regional and national outlets, and multiple votes as a local favorite in Cleveland-area publications. Representatives from the Lakewood Chamber and Lakewood Alive also spoke in support; Lauren Small of the Chamber thanked owner Matt Fish for long-standing community partnership and fundraising support.
Matt Fish addressed council and thanked the community and his staff for the business—s success. "I would not have opened my store in any other community if given the choice again," Fish said.
Council adopted the resolution by voice vote; the council then invited Fish and supporters for a ceremonial presentation and photograph. Council members said the reception was meant to recognize the restaurant—s local cultural impact and longtime service to the community.
