The Shawnee Heights Board of Education approved a renewal of the district’s FastBridge screening contract to continue universal screening in reading and math and progress monitoring for students who receive interventions.
A district presenter said FastBridge is used three times per year to “identify early and intervene quickly,” and that the district uses the system for dyslexia screening and for state reporting related to early reading requirements. The presenter said FastBridge data is used to monitor progress for students receiving additional supports and to determine whether interventions should be increased or students can return to core instruction. The presenter and Stacy Bell recommended approval of a multi-year contract offered by the vendor, Renaissance, that included a three‑year extension intended to limit annual price increases.
Board member questions were limited. The board approved the renewal by voice vote.
Presenters cautioned the board that if vendor pricing or available subsidized pricing changed, the district might have to return to the board for further action.
Motion to approve came from a board member and was seconded; recorded vote was in favor and the contract was authorized.
