Board accepts $1,000 donation to high school 'Magic Closet' from Hanson family

The Monticello Public School District board voted unanimously to accept a $1,000 donation from the family of the late Janice Hanson to support the Monticello High School “Magic Closet,” the district’s resource for students in need.
Superintendent Eric Olsen explained May 5 that Janice Hanson specified gifts to students in need at the high school in her obituary and the Hanson family directed $1,000 to the program. A motion to accept the donation was moved by Jeff Hegley and seconded by Melissa Curtis; the board recorded the vote as 5–0 in favor.
The board thanked the Hanson family for the gift and noted the Magic Closet helps students obtain clothing and other items needed for school. The donation will be recorded in the district’s records under donations to the high school program.
