At the board meeting, committee members said the bond program is proceeding and remains approximately $4 million under the original contingency budget. Committee members reviewed construction schedules, indoor-air-quality (IAQ) and fire-suppression timelines, and the start of tennis-court work at Dakota Meadows Middle School.
Board member Mr. Kind said IAQ projects at Kennedy, Hoover, Eagle Lake and Bridges are moving into planning, but contractor capacity will push Bridges' IAQ work from 2026 into 2027. The committee identified overlapping scopes between bond-funded projects and separate long-term facilities maintenance (LTFM) levy proposals for IAQ; the district plans to present the LTFM/IAQ proposal to the board in coming months. Committee members also said the district will use the annex at Mankato West for summer meal service during construction.
District staff and committee members noted a pending county decision about a proposed new in/out driveway for the reconstructed West parking lot: county staff declined the in/out configuration because the request was submitted late, and bond committee members said they are engaging county commissioners and the county administrator to seek approval so access improvements can be completed this summer rather than deferred to a future study.
Committee updates also covered traffic pattern changes, construction-related disruption planning and timeline details for Dakota Meadows tennis-court replacement. The committee reported that tennis-court surface work is underway following a successful bid process.
