City staff said the $0 registration fee for micro businesses applies only to an initial state-mandated startup period and "will jump to a thousand dollars at the second renewal," meaning the fee becomes $1,000 per year after the transitional period.
Council members also clarified that the temporary-event fee would apply to cannabis events held exclusively at Bayfront under the city's ordinance. Staff told the council the schedule follows state guidance that limits what local governments may charge for some licensing actions.
No final vote was recorded on Resolution 404 at Monday's meeting; the item was presented and discussed and will be considered by council at its next business meeting.
