The Willard City Council narrowed a field of logo contest entries to three finalists at its May 8 meeting and agreed to let the public pick a winner in an online poll.
Councilmembers said several submissions were strong but that some designs would be difficult to reproduce on vehicle decals and signage. Several members expressed a preference for a design featuring a fruit stand and mountains; others favored simpler, department‑identifying circular logos that would be easier to apply to city trucks.
Councilmember Jake Sawyer suggested sending the finalists to a professional designer for minor refinements; the council instead agreed to a straightforward public vote. Staff will post the three finalists on the city’s Facebook page and run a poll for two weeks, ending the Sunday before the next council meeting. Councilmembers asked staff to ensure the images are sized so voters can see how the logos will appear on vehicles and printed materials.
Why it matters
A new logo will be used on city vehicles, signs and printed materials; councilmembers prioritized designs that scale for decals and are legible from a vehicle. The council said it preferred a community selection process rather than an internal-only decision.
Next steps
Staff will post the three finalists in a Facebook poll, open it for two weeks and report results at the next council meeting. The winning design will be available to refine (for scale and vehicle application) after the public vote.
