Elbert County commissioners approved two special‑event liquor permits during the May 14 meeting.
Staff presented an application from the Elizabeth Rodeo Association for its annual Stampede event in June and reported the sheriff and emergency management had been satisfied with the event’s safety plan. No public comments for or against were received and staff recommended approval. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the permit.
A separate application from the Elbert Town Committee for its annual Elbert Days event on July 12 likewise received no public opposition and was recommended for approval by staff; the board approved that permit as well.
No conditions beyond the previously discussed safety plans were recorded in the meeting minutes; both permits were approved by unanimous vote of the commissioners present.
