St. Joseph County transfers industrial parcel at 56120 Larison Boulevard to redevelopment commission

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution on April 15 transferring county-owned property at 56120 Larison Boulevard to the St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission.

Bill Shalio, economic development director in the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Growth, told commissioners the parcel is located on the southeast corner of Larison and Fillmore and "This is property that, will be used for industrial purposes." He said the redevelopment commission had accepted the transfer earlier in its meeting and that the transfer was subject to the commissioners' approval.

The board moved to approve the resolution and recorded three affirmative votes. The transfer will allow the redevelopment commission to include the parcel in its industrial redevelopment activities.

The county did not discuss sale terms, developer commitments, or a timetable for redevelopment during the item.

The measure was presented as a single-agenda item, and staff invited commissioners to ask questions before the vote. No questions were raised that changed the substance of the transfer during the meeting.

The resolution and the redevelopment commission's acceptance complete the county's internal transfer process; any subsequent development or disposition of the parcel will be subject to the redevelopment commission's approval and any applicable public approvals.
