The Gary Common Council on May 6 approved CPR 2025-04, a resolution allowing public comment and a hearing on the proposed transfer of several former GUEA parcels from the redevelopment commission to the Gary Housing Authority to support a veterans supportive-housing project.
Attorney Trammell Rags, representing the Gary Housing Authority, said the authority wants to leverage federal funding and build supportive housing near the existing Veterans Village. He described three parcels the housing authority seeks to acquire: 749 Connecticut Street, 829–31 Connecticut Street and 736–60 Pennsylvania Street.
