Texas Education Agency agents auditing Laredo ISD under District Vulnerability Assessment; exit briefing planned

Doctor Perez and plant facilities staff said TEA Senior TA Agent Diane Stevens and a team of TA agents are visiting 23 campuses in this review. Staff provided binders and uploaded documentation to a district portal in advance, and the team will issue a preliminary exit report after today’s and tomorrow’s visits. A preliminary debriefing with district leadership was scheduled for the afternoon following the visits.
Items TEA is reviewing include emergency operations plans (EOPs), two‑way radio availability, Raptor/visitor management, panic alert systems, 911 call procedures, drill schedules and AED/stop‑the‑bleed training records. Staff said they conducted practice 911 calls with dispatch as part of the documentation and checked roof access, exterior‑door locks, Knox box availability and other facility‑access controls. TEA also asked about the Evolve visitor system and artificial‑intelligence settings for weapon detection at large venues; staff said settings and after‑action adjustments were discussed with vendor support.
Staff thanked campus and department personnel for compiling materials and said the district gave TEA site teams access to the EOPs. The preliminary report will be followed by a final written report from TEA that will describe findings and any recommendations for corrective actions.
