The Temple City Council on May 13 adopted a resolution canvassing the returns of the May 3, 2025 general election and declared Jessica Walker elected to City Council District 1 and Mike Pilkington elected to District 4.
City staff member Miss Lamellen presented the canvass and certified the results to the council, saying that 453 registered voters in District 1 cast legal and valid ballots and that Jessica Walker received 355 votes. Lamellen also told the council that only one candidate filed for District 4 and that Mike Pilkington could therefore be declared elected unopposed; the council packet contained Pilkington’s certificate.
The council moved to adopt the canvass resolution, with a motion recorded by Council Member Grant and seconded by Council Member Cookington. The item passed 4 votes to 0. After the vote a municipal judge administered the oath of office to Jessica Walker and to Mike Pilkington during the same session.
Walker, speaking after her oath, thanked District 1 voters and said she was mindful that “every vote does count,” adding that District 1 has “over, I think, 10,000 registered voters” (approximate). Pilkington, who was sworn in after the canvass, said he was “honored” to serve again and thanked the community.
The canvass completed the formal certification step required of the council for the May 3 election. No challenges to the results were raised during the meeting.
