Township staff explained that local jurisdictions must adopt a resolution for nonprofits to be eligible to conduct charitable gaming (raffles, poker-room fundraising and similar activities) at venues within the local jurisdiction. The presenter told trustees the organization had submitted required bylaws and IRS documentation and that staff recommends approval. Treasurer Joliet moved approval, supported by Trustee Papa; the board then conducted a roll-call vote with all members voting yes and the resolution adopted.
Staff said the local authorization remains in effect indefinitely unless the organization dissolves or its state approval is revoked. The township does not separately track state licensing decisions; the resolution provides the local endorsement required to complete the nonprofit’s state filing.
