The Macomb Township Board of Trustees on Wednesday unanimously approved a promotion within Parks and Recreation and the hiring of four part-time firefighters.
Human resources and Parks staff recommended promoting Brian Wudersch (hired by the township in September 2018) to the Park Supervisor II position following an internal posting and interview process. Mr. Tabaka, presenting the item for human resources, said the position is budgeted and the promotion would be effective May 29. The board approved the promotion by voice vote; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved hiring four candidates for part-time firefighter positions after a multi-stage selection process. Human resources reported the department received 10 applications, administered a written exam and a physical agility test; four candidates completed the agility test and were interviewed by a selection committee that included Fire Chief Phillips, Deputy Chief Monroe and Sherlyn Arf. The recommended hires were James Epp, Kevin Grimes, Trevor Lesaw and Joshua Morton. The hires are budgeted and — pending completion of post-offer requirements — would have an anticipated start date around June 9. Trustee Oliver moved the hiring recommendation, supported by Trustee Lucido; the motion passed unanimously.
Board members offered congratulations to the promoted employee and the new hires during board comment.
