LATC staff presented the program manager’s report, outlining strategic‑plan implementation, outreach and engagement efforts, early work on artificial intelligence resources, and recent personnel changes.
Laura Zuniga presented on behalf of the program manager. She said the committee’s strategic plan was approved earlier in the year and staff have been working with DCA facilitators to draft implementation steps. As part of the plan’s goals, LATC has started an AI‑focused research effort (including compiling an AI reference list and reviewing an ASLA presentation on AI applications) and completed an outreach presentation at UC Berkeley aimed at engaging academic institutions and underrepresented communities.
Zuniga reported social‑media and newsletter efforts are underway; the newsletter content is expected in mid‑June. She also said Kim (program manager) attended a high‑school ACEs pathway presentation to increase exposure to STEAM careers. On personnel, the report noted that Bethany Futari (a board employee) is transferring to LATC (in process) and Levi Hall began as DCA’s compliance and equity officer on April 28. The report included enforcement and exam statistics; staff cautioned numbers for the California supplemental exam (CSC) are small and can be difficult to interpret statistically.
Committee members asked for additional data from the new information system on exam taker outcomes and repeat attempts, and asked staff to pursue K‑12 outreach. Staff said they would follow up with more granular exam analytics and coordinate outreach plans.
