Planning commission recommends conditional use permit for Beehive Motors at 1101 N. Main St.

The Sunset Planning Commission voted to recommend that City Council approve a conditional use permit for Beehive Motors LLC at 1101 North Main Street, following a presentation by the applicant and several clarifying questions about parking and operations.

Commission members cited the site’s previous use for vehicle sales and asked the applicant to confine display vehicles to the area between the building and the America Stone property line and to maintain three marked spots at the front of the building for employee and customer parking. The commission’s recommendation specifies up to 12 display vehicles, with the three front spaces reserved for employees/customers.

The applicant identified himself and two colleagues and described their plan as primarily appointment-based sales with the possibility of walk-in customers. Staff and commissioners discussed that the location had previously operated as a vehicle sales site, and asked for measures to keep the lot organized and secure, including striping or painted stalls. The commission noted that no mechanical repair, vehicle washing, or major repairs would be allowed under the permit; minor detailing in preparation for sale was discussed as acceptable.
