Gunnison Valley Library plans 'Color Our World' summer reading series starting June 3

Library staff outlined plans for the library’s summer reading program, “Color Our World,” telling the board the series will run eight Tuesdays beginning June 3 at 10 a.m. at the Lyon Pavilion.
Karen Donaldson, staff member, described planned activities including chalk art, music sessions (with scarves and movement), crafts such as mosaic tiles and wood bookmarks, decorating bags with crayons on the first day, and a photo scavenger hunt in the library. Donaldson said the program will serve multiple age groups and that attendance at similar events has reached roughly “a hundred kids or more” during school hours in the past.
Board members confirmed there is sufficient budget for the number of copies of program materials needed. The board discussed logistics for the first day and noted the final day of the series will be a pool party. Members also agreed to continue the traditional Fourth of July book sale and to circulate a sign-up so volunteers can help; board members said the sale earned $500–$600 last year.
Staff invited board members to volunteer for program days. The board did not take a formal vote on the program details at the meeting.
